Project Title
Carbon Countdown_BR: A baseline for Brazil’s soil and vegetation carbon stocks
Summary
The fellow will be part of the team of a large project to quantify carbon stocks in the vegetation of the six Brazilian biomes, being responsible for extracting data from a literature review carried out from multiple sources of information. The project aims to synthesize existing knowledge about carbon stocks in natural and cultivated vegetation, generate a reference database for carbon projects in Brazil, and analyze the main drivers of these stocks.
Project Description and Objectives
The project seeks to synthesize the existing knowledge about carbon stocks in the natural and cultivated vegetation of the Brazilian territory, identifying gaps and defining regional references for carbon sequestration. The data generated will meet the demand for carbon project baselines in Brazil and will support analyses on the relative importance of controlling factors such as vegetation cover, climate, human interventions, topography, soil attributes and previous land use.
