Centro de Estudos de Carbono em Agricultura Tropical (CCARBON)

ABOUT US

We are the Center for Carbon Research in Tropical Agriculture (CCARBON/USP), affiliated with the Rectorate of the University of São Paulo (USP) and headquartered at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ) in Piracicaba – SP, Brazil. CCARBON creation was approved by the Research, Dissemination and Innovation Centers Program (CEPID) of the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).

PURPOSE

Generate knowledge, technology, innovation, human resources training and dissemination of carbon-based solutions for tropical agricultural systems, aiming to reconcile the growing demand for food, fiber and energy with sustainability (environmental, economic and social).

This is how we position ourselves to transform Brazilian agriculture, making it more productive, resilient and sustainable.

CCARBON/USP’S ACTION STRATEGY IN THE FACE OF GLOBAL CHALLENGES

CONTEXT

CCarbon/USP has 12 well-structured research lines, which will cover five main programs: Soil, Plant, Animal, Atmosphere and Digital Tools.

The center will also be inserted into an innovation ecosystem to support discoveries and new technologies through institutional public-private partnerships.

We design multiple strategies for the active dissemination of knowledge and innovations, helping farmers and stakeholders adopt more sustainable practices, in addition to raising awareness among the population about the relevance of the topic and supporting the development of public policies.
