Integration Workshop brought together researchers and representatives of institutions to establish a joint agenda focused on climate solutions for tropical agriculture
The Center for Carbon Research in Tropical Agriculture (CCARBON/USP) and the SIPA Alliance have taken an important step to expand scientific cooperation in integrated agricultural production systems. On Tuesday (12), representatives of the two institutions participated in the CCARBON/USP and SIPA Alliance Integration Workshop, held at the center’s headquarters, at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ/USP), in Piracicaba (SP).
The meeting marked the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between CCARBON/USP and the SIPA Alliance, an initiative that seeks to strengthen research, technological development and the dissemination of knowledge in integrated agricultural production systems, with a focus on climate solutions for tropical agriculture.

In addition to formalizing the partnership, the workshop aimed to build an initial agenda for collaboration between the institutions, identifying opportunities for the development of joint projects, knowledge exchange, training of human resources and fundraising for strategic research.
The program opened with an institutional presentation on the objectives of the cooperation, followed by a presentation by Professor Leidivan Almeida Frazão, who presented the competencies of CCARBON/USP and the main research developed in the Integrated Systems Sector Chain. Next, researcher Rubia Dominschek presented the lines of action of the SIPA Alliance, highlighting ongoing projects and opportunities for integration between the teams.

After a moment of questions and discussions, the participants dedicated themselves to the construction of the cooperation agenda, in which research priorities, possibilities for joint action and strategies to expand the impact of the initiatives developed by the two institutions were discussed.

The partnership reinforces CCARBON/USP’s commitment to promoting science of excellence focused on sustainable agriculture and climate change mitigation, through the integration between different institutions, competencies and areas of knowledge.

As next steps, the institutions will continue the discussions initiated during the workshop, seeking to transform the opportunities identified into concrete actions for research, innovation and knowledge transfer for the agricultural sector.
